My Ideal Client

As an adult child of a person with Substance Use Disorder, I know how painful it can be to love someone struggling with addiction. I have experience working in residential SUD treatment as well as working with their loved ones. I have a passion for recovery and I seek to connect with others who have been impacted by addiction. Beyond the scope of addiction, my clinical interests include family systems, codependence, and trauma, among others. I work with adult individuals, couples, and families.

My Approach to Helping

If you need support with the many challenges life can bring, I would love to help you find more ease, joy, and acceptance. I believe we all deserve compassion and the chance to grow, heal, and change. It is my intention to listen deeply and attune to your unique needs. I want to explore what gives meaning to your life and learn how counseling can be helpful. I seek to create an environment where we can work toward growth that is in alignment with your values. Authenticity is a core principle of mine. The therapeutic relationship is vital and I work to create a warm, collaborative space. I am influenced primarily by Existential-Humanistic theories as well as Relational-Cultural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mind/body integration practices. With those ideas in mind, my primary objective is to help you build self-awareness because I believe YOU are the only expert on your life.

My Values as a Therapist

Prior to graduate school, I worked in the performing arts. That experience grounds my counseling work in mindfulness and creativity. I have studied yoga and meditation for over 20 years, strengthening my personal practice and building my somatic awareness. I will bring a curiosity to our collaboration that orients from a social justice and multicultural perspective, which means that we will consider all aspects of your lived experience. I have studied addiction formally and informally for decades. I am interested in how it impacts loved ones and how we can continue to work toward destigmatization. I am relational in style (a focus on relationships), which also includes the counselor/client relationship. I am committed to creating an environment that is safe and where you will feel heard, respected, and valued. Through our collaboration and from a holistic perspective, we will take time to explore how counseling can best serve you.
