My Ideal Client

My specialty is focused on people who have or are still experiencing traumatic events. Therefore, those also may be managing; depression, anxiety, and (complex) PTSD. I also support those who have been oppressed and marginalize due to; LGBTQIA+, gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity. In therapeutic session we may also address concerns regarding; relationships and attachment, relational violence and abuse, sexuality and identity, and intergenerational trauma.

What I Specialize In

I believe the therapeutic relationship between the client and a counselor is a collaborative one. I believe you are the expert of your life, and I am a facilitator of change and processing. I am an engaged therapist. I will ask questions to invoke self-inquiry and discovery. I offer resources, handouts, apps, and YouTube videos to support techniques we learn within our sessions. I utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which is a client-centered approach with a focus to empower you to take action to meet your goals and expectations, which are set and controlled by you, little steps at a time. Aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Therapy as relied on as needed.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

I am an interactive mental health counselor. I ask questions, and inquire about past tools that have worked, as well as discover together tools that will support you specifically. I offer homework and techniques to practice via YouTube, apps, or with handouts. I am very supportive and encouraging. I believe in you. I am affirming to your beliefs and identity. My practice is focused on trauma, which means looking at where your trauma is currently affecting your life. Within sessions, time and energy is spent processing your current thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that are influenced by past trauma. Utilizing techniques that can help you understand, make peace with, and make other choices outside of repeating unwanted thoughts and experiences. If you're ready to put in the work to find progress, I'm a good fit for you.

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

Trauma can cause a variety of symptoms and experiences that can be a distraction in your quality of life. In a therapy session, we focus on symptoms and remedies. I will not ask you to recall every detail, instead the focus is on understanding the experiences of symptoms in your daily life. For example, what it looks like, feels like, and how it causes you to respond. Together we will discover the techniques and tools that can help you specifically and reduce the intensity of your daily life.
