Our Approach to Helping
With more than 20 providers, we offer a diverse range of identities and lived experiences. We utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions that are tailored to each individual's needs, promoting a personalized approach. Our work is grounded in a person-centered, trauma-informed framework, which emphasizes transparency, collaboration, respect, and empowerment. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, we strive to create a supportive and safe space where clients can work toward their therapeutic goals. Our sliding scale fees, ranging from $1 to $80, make our services accessible to a broad range of clients, and sessions are available both in-person and via telehealth.
Why We Started this Group Practice
In 1965, a group of Episcopalians opened a counseling center on NW Marshall St with a phone, card table, and an orange crate for a chair. They named the place after William Temple, the late Archbishop of Canterbury known for his commitment to social justice. Before long William Temple House (WTH) grew into a trusted community resource offering counseling, food, clothing, and more to thousands of individuals and families in the community. Founding director C.T. Abbott, a visionary priest and mental health counselor, led WTH until his death in 1990. More than 50 years later, WTH continues as a place of healing and hope through services supporting the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Our staff, volunteers, and supporters come from diverse backgrounds, and what brings us together is our shared vision of a stronger community. We're proud to serve our neighbors as an equal opportunity provider and strive to create a comforting place that is open and inviting to people of all backgrounds.
