My Ideal Client

I am currently taking new clients. My clients come from all walks of life. Whether you have lived in the area your whole life, or just moved to town. Whether you are struggling with up and down moods, are stuck in life, struggling with relationships or belonging in society, or just want to deepen an understanding of your life. I want to be able to listen, understand, and help you each step of the way. Consultations are always free.

My Approach to Helping

Experiencing stress, anxious thoughts, unhealthy habits, and feeling depressed can be a part of the journey to a better you. I can help in providing a lens to that journey, to help you be mindful of where you have been, where you are, and where you are going. I also help provide the tools, to recognize barriers, and overcome old patterns. I have devoted my life to understanding psychology, working in the helping profession, and finding the right resources when things are out of my scope of practice. My style is person centered, informed, and really deeply rooted in creating an environment and relationship in which a person can feel like they can truly be who they are, and express fully what they want. My fees vary depending on the service, and I take many insurance plans. Please do not let cost be a barrier. I provide a free consultations to see if I would be the right fit for your counseling needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the board of Oregon, and have worked in a number of settings including Drug and Alcohol, Community Mental Health, School, Crisis Work, and private practice. I have M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University, Licensed in Oregon, and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Narrative  External link

Everyone has a story. Whether you think about your life story, or have not in awhile, it has had huge impact on who you are today. This is why when we feel lost in life, it can be so grounding to reconnect with your life story. This is exactly my aim. We start from the beginning, and tie your narrative to what is happening today. This gives you back your story, and helps you continue it on.

  • Humanistic  External link

I have been lucky to study under a number of professors who adhere to the humanistic approach. For me, this is rooted in the idea that humans are ultimately good, and constantly attempting to move toward self-actualization. Under this template, the therapeutic relationship that we create in session is ultimately the tool that will provide the space for you to reach your goals.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

CBT utilizes your thoughts to manage feelings and behaviors. We work together through in person sessions, thought/challenge records, and actively challenging homework to understand and change feelings and behavior. I'm committed to as much of this journey as you are to allow emotions and behaviors to change.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Immigration/Acculturation External link

As an immigrant to the U.S. myself, I have had a lifelong experience of acculturation. Changing one's culture, or attempting to fit it into another touches each aspect of one's life. In doing so, it can rock your identity as a whole. Please consider setting up a consultation appointment, to receive some professional support on this journey.

  • Men's Issues External link

The identity of man seems to have changed so much in modern times. It sometimes seems feels completely out of place today. Men's roles in work, relationships, even hobbies have been impacted. This is the place where we reconnect with your goals and dreams, and find actual workable ways of reaching them. No matter what place you are in life, there is always hope of moving forward.

  • Self-Esteem External link

Congratulations in taking a step towards overcoming the mountain of esteem! You know, that thing that always has something negative to say to you. That thing that limits your courage and holds you back from all the things you want in life. Join me for a consult, and let's take another step toward climbing this mountain.

  • Aspergers External link

Learning to live and thrive in a social world can be daunting. If you identify on the Aspergers spectrum, it can be completely overwhelming and unfair. This is the place where we use the scientific model to challenge your fears, understand yourself and limits, and ultimately find ways to reach your goals. Join me for a free consult to explore what we can accomplish working together.

  • Depression External link

If you live in the PNW, chances are you have experienced or come across some depression. Whether you have been living with this for most of your life, or you are having a period in your life with more depression, this is the place we explore your relationship with depression, and ultimately find the best coping mechanisms to overcome.
