My Approach to Helping

Somatic (Body) Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing® treat the whole person, integrating body, mind, emotions, and spirit, enabling deeper more meaningful work with more lasting results. I facilitate healing that works with the nervous system and different parts of the brain through movement, breath, self-touch, right brain intuition/visualization, self-parenting, & inner body-awareness. Together we will listen to your body's wisdom and emotions to attune to your deeper needs. Somatic work helps to free tension and emotion held in the body, regulate the nervous system, and re-pattern defensive responses & limiting beliefs. Utilizing your body's wisdom, we will tailor interventions to your needs to create a more sustainable and healthy relationship with yourself and the world, including work-life balance, so you can thrive!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about counteracting the single-minded push for productivity in our society, and supporting holistic wellness by tending to our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits, both at work and outside of work. As a sensitive person, I am dedicated to creating balance for myself, and feel gratified in helping others find it. In this way, we can begin to practice what the world needs to heal- sustainability, interconnection, compassion, and balance. I have been a yoga and meditation teacher and am influenced by Buddhist and Hindu philosophy as well as pagan/wiccan & earth based traditions. I support you in your unique relationship with religion or spirituality through the belief system that makes sense for you.     Somatic (Body) Psychotherapy treats the whole person, integrating body, mind, emotions, and spirit, enabling you to do deeper more meaningful work in less time with more lasting results. I work with the breath, movement, inner body sensations/awareness, and access the right-brain through symbolism, intuition, & imagery. Somatic Experiencing® teaches you to track and attune to your nervous system to regulate, release trauma, empower, and attend to needs and nervous system states effectively.

    Hakomi is grounded in five principles: mindfulness, nonviolence, organicity, unity and body-mind holism. We support defenses that may arise and see them as important protectors, trust and follow what is arising in your mind/body/spirit with no agenda, and explore what arises using experiments that offer real change experiences in the present moment.

    Anxiety can feel debilitating, but it is your body's energy mobilising to protect you (even if the perceived danger is from the past). By attuning to your nervous system and employing somatic techniques, we can support the protective energy of anxiety, and meet it with avenues for expression, along with accessing regulation and safety, so you can feel grounded and empowered. Together we can access present moment safety you can feel, so anxiety can stand down when danger is not present.
