How I Can Help You
The decision to participate in therapy should be about addressing your needs, desires, and goals, so the decision to partner with someone in treatment is essential. I have held many high-level professional positions; but I also know what it like to grow up impoverished and use government safety nets. People want skills and practical counsel to make their own best-informed decisions. These abilities are part of what I bring to the proverbial table in helping you. My assistance to you is based on practical applications and not just theories.
Beyond my therapeutic counseling skills and finalizing a graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling, I hold a graduate degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Theological Seminary. Earning this degree helps inform my empathy, compassion, and respect in therapy for ALL cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles in your therapy experience. I also speak some limited Russian when needed, as I hold a Russian Language and Eastern European Studies degree.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In many ways, counseling is like going to your physician or mechanic. Just because you visit them does not always mean something is wrong, but more often, you are being good to yourself to ensure that things function at their optimum. My approach to therapy is eclectic and not a one size fits all. I am versed in many therapy systems, including CBT, Adlerian, Psychodynamic, and Attachment therapy; the therapy style is based on your unique needs, values, and goals, not mine. Therapy with me is a collaborative effort. I am passionate about helping families, couples, and young adults reach their full potential. Working with multicultural, multiethnic, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities is among my goals, given the limited availability of minority therapists within the region.
