While living our lives we all go through periods of struggle and difficulty. That's the nature of being human, and the problems come in many forms. Besides problem solving, you are someone who is invested in personal growth and gaining greater self understanding, and someone who understands that life involves adapting to change.
Specialties
My approach is genuine, warm, and respectful. My earliest training was Rogerian, and I have many years of practice with this modality and active listening.
I have significant background in Psychodrama therapy, as well as Gestalt therapy. When a client goes deep into a problem area, this approach may often be the most valuable. There are numerous therapeutic experiential interventions that have the potential to creatively begin healing or transform an individuals problem area.
If it is the desire of the client, we can address treatment through the lens of the concerns being a spiritual problem. This kind of work may include a focus on using dreams, and/or identifying archetypal energies, and/or understanding astrological dynamics, that are related to present day concerns. Each of these approaches can provide unique guidance specific to the individual client. One goal of therapy being to reach a place of equanimity.
I am a student of Jung. See above description under transpersonal.
I have several years experience working with families. Although I don't see families today, I can work with individuals experiencing problems with their family dynamics. I have training in Structural family therapy.
Specialties
Life is about change, and about navigating whatever transitions are happening at a particular time. Personal growth also involves addressing both individual and interpersonal behavior patterns, negative emotional patterns, and family of origin issues.
This can involve practicing greater compassion toward oneself. It can also involve addressing self criticism or that judgemental voice in your head, and/or addressing concerns involving shame and guilt.
There is work to be done in processing the deep layers of sadness and other emotions, as well as the subsequent reactions that surface. Grieving comes in waves, and has it's own time frame.
