My Ideal Client

Are you sick of being overlooked by medical providers because you don’t look like their outdated idea of someone with ADHD, autism, OCD, or bipolar? Does your brain seem to oscillate between overstimulated and understimulated? Are you tired of getting brushed off because you’re not struggling "enough,” but you’re struggling with overwhelm, shame, hygiene, grocery shopping, or loneliness?

My Approach to Helping

As an LGBTQ+ neurodivergent therapist, I know it’s not easy living in a world that wasn’t built for you. I support & empower neurodivergent people who don’t fit the outdated, ”traditional” picture of neurodivergence, including people of color, women, nonbinary, and trans individuals. I have extensive training in assessing & treating neurodivergent people, including conducting independent clinical research & presenting my findings at research conferences in California, Oregon, & Washington. My primary areas of focus are ADHD, autism, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, & bipolar disorders. I’ve also served as a lead presenter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), a writer for the International Bipolar Foundation, & a mental health journalist for Insider. Before that, I was a tutor for children with ADHD, ASD, & dyslexia.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

No one should have to figure everything out on their own, or spend years getting brushed off by providers who work off of outdated models. I started the Portland Neurodivergent Clinic because I believe neurodivergence isn’t something to be ashamed of. You deserve flexibility, whether that's telehealth individual sessions or Dungeons & Dragons therapy. While some models focus on pointing out your weak points, I take a shame-free approach by helping clients recognize & build on their strengths while identifying support needs. I treat therapy as a partnership, where we collaborate to navigate challenges & celebrate successes. Together, we create a shame-free therapeutic space that honors individuality, promotes resilience, & fosters growth in a safe, understanding environment.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

Acceptance and commitment therapy helps clients explore who they want to be, build self-esteem, practice assertiveness, & improve emotional regulation. Not only is it highly effective, it’s a shame-free approach where we work with your strengths and values to help you live a life you're proud of. I tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. My approach also draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) & play therapy.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy External link

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a highly effective therapy for OCD that gently helps you face fears and resist compulsions in a safe, supportive environment. With guidance, we'll gradually confront triggers in a way that feels manageable, learning to reduce anxiety and break the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. ERP emphasizes your courage and resilience, fostering self-compassion as you gain freedom from OCD's grip and build a life guided by your values, not fear.

  • Attachment Theory External link

Attachment theory helps us understand how early relationships shape the way we connect with others and see ourselves. In therapy, we explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, identifying how they influence your current relationships and well-being. By fostering secure connections with yourself and others, we work to heal past wounds, reduce shame, build trust, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships rooted in safety, understanding, and mutual support.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • ADHD External link

Does your brain seem to oscillate between overstimulated and understimulated? Are you sick of getting brushed off by medical providers because you’re an adult, or because you’re not struggling ”enough” in school, or because they gave you medication (or didn’t) and kicked you out the door? Together, we’ll help you better understand your needs, collaboratively identify and advocate for supports, & develop emotional regulation strategies to help you thrive.

  • OCD External link

Do you wish your brain would pause for a minute so you could breathe? Are you sick of people telling you, “calm down,” and “don’t stress so much, it’s bad for you,” like that doesn’t make it worse? You’re not alone. We’ll work together to help you develop a healthier relationship with your OCD, gently retrain your brain, collaboratively identify and advocate for supports, & develop emotional regulation strategies to help you thrive.

  • Autism External link

Are you exhausted from getting brushed off by medical providers because you don’t look autistic? Have you been told there’s “nothing they can do” or you’re too “old” for help? But you’re still struggling with tasks like hygiene, going grocery shopping, needing to navigate the airport, or feeling lonely? We’ll work together to help you & your loved ones recognize the ”rumbling” stages of meltdowns and shutdowns and identify and advocate for the supports you deserve.
