Specialties
Trained by Patrick Carnes, PhD, I am a certified sex addiction therapist and have been treating individuals and their partners or other family members for over a decade. I am a member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH), and continually update my skills through training, consultation and research.
As a certified sex addiction therapist, a large part of my training and experience has been related to problem online behavior, including internet, pornography and/or cybersex addiction. Many people who struggle with internet addiction have some combination of online sexual and non-sexual behaviors, including gaming and social media addiction.
As a member of the queer community, it's been part of my personal and professional journey to seek training, supervision and experience to become equipped to meet the counseling needs of LGBTQ individuals and couples. I continually seek professional development opportunities to stay informed on issues facing sexual and gender minorities.
Borrowing from my training in the Gottman method, Imago and Emotionally Focused Therapies, I have been honored to be part of the healing for many couples in both traditional and non-traditional relationship orientations.
I am trained in several approaches to trauma, including EMDR. As a member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), I continually update my skills with state-of-the-art training and consultation.
