My Ideal Client

Trying to find the right therapist can be a daunting task, so I’m really happy you are here. I help people with a variety of needs such as unpacking past traumas, dealing with a specific situation or need a new perspective for their future. Clients I see are typically going through a transition, grieving a loss, or looking for meaning.

My Approach to Helping

Using elements of art therapy, drama therapy, IFS, EMDR, and the latest research on how to regulate the nervous system I approach your situation with compassion to help you confront unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviors, break free from guilt/shame, rekindle inner-joy and cultivate resiliency for an integrated sense of self.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in your innate ability to heal, to make meaning from suffering and bounce back from adversity. I am an LGBTQ+ ally, cisgender woman with over a decade of experience working in the field. Specific areas of focus include grief, loss, addiction, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and relationship issues. In 2012, I developed an art therapy workshop called Broken Bowl based on the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi and Kintsugi. Wabi Sabi embraces the flawed or imperfect aspects of life and Kintsugi is the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. I guide individuals through a process of confronting change, accepting impermanence, and deciding how to move forward with what is left. If you are interested in participating in this workshop please reach out for upcoming dates.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Drug Dependence / Abuse / Addiction External link

As a licensed substance use counselor, I have spent the last 10 years working directly with folks experiencing houselessness, having issues with the criminal justice system, trauma and addiction. So much of addiction is based in unresolved trauma which is why I take a judgment free, harm reduction approach.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

Many of my clients are members of the LGBTQ community. We work on issues around gender identity, transitioning, coming out to family members, healing from religious trauma and internalized homophobia.
