I believe you were born inclined towards love, growth, connection, and meaning, but then life happened. To survive, you adapted, sometimes in ways that cut yourself off from important parts. Over time that way of surviving can lead to depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, rage, or any number of undesired outcomes. You are strong - you have survived - and I would like to help you heal these wounds and get you back to (or create for the first time) the life that you deserve.
Specialties
I am trained in EMDR through EMDR Consulting, an EMDRIA approved provider, and continue to participate in ongoing consultations w/ trainers to keep my training current. EMDR is a process that works on a neurological level - while talking is a part of it, the healing is largely happening beyond the verbal level. It is perfect for anyone who anyone who has experienced the phenomenon of "I know that I am safe, that it's over - but my body doesn't believe me". EMDR helps your body "believe".
Specialties
If you have unhealed wounds that continue to seep through into your day-to-day in a way you struggle to shake, in a way that leads to lashing out, self-loathing, substance use, numbing / dissociation, or anxiety / avoiding reminders of the memory, I can help. I am trained in EMDR, a rigorously researched intervention that leads to permanently lowering emotional reactivity associated with the memories as well as increasing the felt experience of positive beliefs about ourselves.
I am a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (II) registered in the state of Oregon, and have experience working in residential treatment facilities for substance use disorders. I am equipped to help guide folks through recovery, post-acute withdrawal syndrome, relapse prevention, navigating recovery communities in a way that fits with your values, as well as seeking to find the roots of your substance use disorder through a trauma-informed lens.
