My Ideal Client

I enjoy a diverse psychotherapy practice working with adolescents, adults, and couples. Whether playing with puppets or talking to adults, my goal is to foster an environment of curiosity and exploration. Meeting once a week or more frequently, psychotherapy offers a dynamic opportunity to live a more creative and fulfilling life.

My Background and Approach

“Why do I feel stuck in my career?” “Why is it so hard to open up with my friends and partner?” “How can I help my child feel confident?” Psychotherapy is an opportunity to reclaim your future as well as help your children and family enjoy productive, loving relationships. Together, we develop a conversation focused upon understanding what interferes with your parenting or sense of meaning in both your personal and professional life. By becoming intimate with your emotional landscape, you will feel more confident in your ability to manage relationships as well as life’s inevitable bumps and bruises. I invite you to arrange an initial phone call so that I can address your questions directly.

My Values as a Therapist

Marcel Proust writes that the "real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes." As a therapist, I work collaboratively to explore and expand your vision of yourself in love, work, and play. Together we develop a dialogue that helps you nurture deeper, more connected relationships and live a confident and creative life. My services include intensive psychoanalytic therapy, as well as psychotherapy for adolescents, adults and couples.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Parenting External link

As the founder of PdxParenting and the creator of “Kids Who Feel Smart," I am dedicated to bringing the most current understanding of interpersonal neurobiology to parent education. My decade long experience as a full-time parent strengthened my ability to offer individualized and practical strategies to help parents find what works for their unique family.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

With an additional Masters Degree in Special Education/Early Childhood, I have worked throughout my 30 year career with children and adolescents. Currently, I am working with teens age 12 and up.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

As an active member of the LGBTQ community, I understand the many issues related to queer identity.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Couples therapy transforms painful moments into opportunities for deep engagement. Partners learn to identify unproductive communication that distorts their desire to be understood and loved. I help partners express and receive the underlying messages they share in order to better know themselves and their partner.
