My Ideal Client

I have a background in working with adolescents through young adulthood and have even worked in a sex offender treatment program which has given me valuable experience in seeing more complex cases than my peers. I view therapy through an evidenced based lens and use cognitive behavioral approach, but tailor to meet each individual’s needs.

My Approach to Helping

I view therapy from a cognitive-behavior theory orientation, but believe each client needs individualized treatment planning that fosters the best growth, including developing a strong therapeutic alliance, focusing on strengths, and how the individual learns best. I can incorporate various types of treatment techniques including psychoeducation, motivational learning, and more. I am always eager to learn about each individual’s life and how best they can work together to develop change. I believe that with hard work and a personalized plan, change is always possible.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about mental health and learning about others' world perspectives, personality, and culture. I believe the best way to work with any client is to understand them at all levels of their life. I am also passionate about reading various genres. I am also passionate about traveling and have traveled most of the world, mainly throughout Europe and Africa. While I have traveled and lived in other states, and Ireland briefly, I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and currently live in the country with my three cats, three pugs, and six chickens.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I see anxiety as signal to stop and understand what is going on, and that it is something to understand and not fear. I love working with teens and young adults on examining underlying thoughts and behaviors and contribute to anxiety and aiding them in learning coping skills to overcome these issues.

  • Depression External link

Hardship and feeling depressed can happen to anyone. I believe in using various evidence-based approaches to aid my patients to view their worlds through a different lens. We may not be able to change the world, but we can change the way we see it.
