My Ideal Client

I am highly trained to work with trauma of all kinds, from family issues or sexual assault to shootings and earthquakes. I have specialized training in relationships as well, and love working with the LGBTQ community. I also help people navigate grief, loss of meaning, and life transitions. I enjoy helping clients from all cultural backgrounds and am trained in working cross-culturally, such as those navigating immigration or couples who are navigating cultural differences.

My Approach to Helping

I am known for using a holistic, relational approach. This means that I view you as a whole person, and I care for all the parts that make you who you are. Building a close and trusted relationship is very important to me. I give unconditional empathy and warmth, while providing direct and honest feedback always with the intention of helping you grow. If you bring your dream, I'll bring the structure and vision so that you can love the way life feels again. We'll cry, we'll laugh, we'll challenge our ways of thinking, and then we will go together into a new future that feels safe, beautiful, and worth living. I often incorporate somatic-based techniques to help trauma that is held in your body. I am always focused on your comfort and needs above all. The techniques that inform my work are called: Emotionally-focused (EFT) Trauma Informed Strength-based Psychodynamic Cognitive-behavioral (CBT) Somatic Internal Family Systems (IFS) Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Sexual Abuse External link

I worked in sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy for several years, then became a therapist to work with my clients on a deeper level. I have had many trainings in sexual trauma, including a specialized internship. Today I use a feminist and trauma-informed approach to help my clients restore a sense of safety and power.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

As a member of the LGBTQ community and fierce advocate for our rights, I love helping my clients find an inner sense of freedom and peace, while navigating issues that can come with these identities, such as religious trauma, family tension or rejection, self-advocacy, people pleasing, boundaries, self-concept, or learning to remove internalized systems from your relationships.

  • PTSD External link

I have over 2000 hours of training in trauma, from childhood experiences to gun violence or natural disasters. I have a certificate in Trauma-Focused CBT, though I tend to use a more relational approach in treating PTSD.

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

I love helping people feel grounded to themselves while in the midst of what can feel like chaotic life changes. I focus on strengths and help you redefine what you want you want from this new chapter in life. Then, we can look at tackling any barriers that are getting in the way, such as anxiety or freezing up. When we do these transitions with support, they can feel like catalysts for knowing ourselves on a deeper level, giving us the confidence to make brave and beautiful life choices.
