My Background

Originally from the red rock country of Southern Utah, I completed my undergraduate and medical school training in Salt Lake City. I came to Oregon to train in general psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University, and have now called the Pacific Northwest home for several years. After graduating from the OHSU psychiatry residency program and completing a psychiatry chiefship, I opened my private practice in Portland, Oregon.

My Approach to Helping

I understand that mental health and illness have different meanings for each person, and I aim to create an environment in which these meanings can be explored and understood. I value working with a wide variety of patients with different cultural, religious/spiritual, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I treat the full range of psychiatric disorders with particular interest in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, mood disorders including depression and bipolar spectrum illnesses, personality disorders, psychotic illnesses including schizophrenia, and trauma.
