My Ideal Client

Everyone has seasons of difficulty, confusion, or moments where forward progress in life and relationships seem to come to a stop. These experiences, while deeply painful, can be harnessed as moments of growth in our lives that cause us to understand ourselves, our faith, our relationships to a much greater degree. I work with teens, families, couples, and both men and women, and I specialize in marriage counseling, depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, and much more.

My Approach to Helping

I work with clients with varied presenting concerns. During our initial sessions, I want to understand who you are as a person, what brought you to therapy, and what you desire as a successful outcome. We will then work together to craft a plan for achieving those goals. From that place, I will then integrate a Biblical and Christian worldview with therapeutic methods to work collaboratively with you to understand your strengths, identify your needs, notice your thought patterns, discover new options, and make informed choices. My theory of practice is an integration between biblically informed attachment theory and my interventions are predominantly drawn from cognitive behavioral and psycho-educational therapy.

Why I Became a Therapist

Walking through a life of difficulty and struggle can be very traumatic and confusing. I know that I have benefited greatly from those in my life who were willing to walk through difficulty, share wisdom, and show me empathy and care when I needed it most. It is my hope that I can assist all those who wish to be helped with that same care that I have received.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Couples Counseling External link

I am certified in various premarital and marriage counseling tools including the Prepare & Enrich and the Gottman Method of couples counseling.

  • Gottman Method External link

In most of the couples work that I provide, I will be using a baseline of the work that comes from the Gottman Method of Couples Counseling.

  • Attachment Theory External link

I believe all current relationship conflict and difficulty can find its root in early relationships in life. We are inherently relational creatures and so much of what we struggle with in this life is finding our place in connection with those around us. This theory is core to each client's growth in therapy.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

My practice is based around the idea that as a person thinks, so they will act. With this in mind, a great deal of my intervention techniques are derived out of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
