My Ideal Client

My ideal clients are individuals navigating the aftermath of trauma, moral injury, and loss. They range from veterans and first responders to healthcare professionals and survivors of abuse or violence. These brave souls are seeking not just to heal but to reclaim their narratives and thrive beyond their experiences. They value evidence-based therapy and holistic approaches to healing, and are ready to embark on a transformative journey towards resilience, empowerment, and personal growth.

My Approach to Helping

My expertise is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy, all of which I am certified in. My approach is holistic, integrating these therapies with practices tailored to each client's unique healing journey. With over 10 years of experience as a psychologist in the VA Portland, I have developed a profound understanding of the challenges faced by veterans, first responders, and survivors of abuse. This extensive background has equipped me with the skills to address a wide range of trauma-related issues effectively. My dedication to ongoing professional development ensures that I bring the most effective, innovative treatments to those I serve. My contributions to the field, through national trainings and published research, reflect my commitment to not just healing but empowering my clients to reclaim their narratives and thrive.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

At the core of my practice, I believe in the the human capacity for healing. I am passionate about empowering individuals to reclaim their narratives, viewing each person's journey through a lens of strength and potential rather than pathology. My personal interests in mindfulness, nature-based therapies, and the arts deeply influence my therapeutic approach, emphasizing the mind-body connection and the importance of holistic well-being.I know how important connection and purpose are, and that we can find connection and purpose not only in our human relationships but in our relationships with animals and nature; therefore I am enthusiastic about incorporating animals and nature into our work together. My commitment to trauma recovery extends beyond the therapy room; I have actively built and supported two veteran surf communities on the Oregon coast where Oregon veterans and friends can find camaraderie, connection and challenge in nature.
