My Background and Approach

If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied, I can help you understand what is getting in your way and develop tools to help you move forward. My aim is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your problems without being judged. Once we have established a working relationship built on mutual trust, honesty, and respect, my goals are to help you better understand your problems, identify obstacles that have inhibited your capacity for growth and support you in the process of making positive and often times difficult life changes. I've been training in Gestalt theory since 2008. I believe in the importance of understanding you as you are & attuning to your thoughts, feelings & actions to heighten your awareness. My approach is collaborative, client-centered & compassionate. Engaging in therapy is a courageous step. I would be glad to talk with you about how to start living the life you want. Set up a free phone consultation, and see my website.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In my practice, I work adults and adolescents which includes separate sessions with their parents. I treat people with wide range of mental health issues from various diverse backgrounds. My areas of expertise include grief counseling, body image issues, eating disorders, & relationship struggles. My approach is grounded in psychological theory and research.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Attachment Theory External link

Attachment theory relates to the long-term interpersonal relationship style we have and how it affects our present day relationships with others. It's based on the general premise that attachment styles we developed in our early years influence our patterns of interacting in close relationships in later years.

  • Humanistic  External link

Humanistic theory is a holistic approach that pays special attention to positive human potential. It encourages self exploration and viewing ourselves as a 'whole person' greater than the sum of our parts. It incorporates self-awareness that helps the client change their state of mind and behavior from one of reactions to a healthier one with more productive self-awareness and thoughtful actions.

  • Gestalt External link

Gestalt therapy helps people get in touch with and talk honestly about their unfulfilled needs. It raises awareness of the patterns people have established in their lives that can be problematic and lead to being stuck. Gestalt is a strengths-based perspective that does not reduce people only to a diagnosis or set of issues. It’s an approach that helps us expand ourselves and increases confidence
