My Ideal Client

People often seek out therapy when they are in relief of mental and emotional pain. I believe much of this pain is rooted in attachment failures in childhood. Ways you may have managed your pain no longer seem to be working. This crisis of sorts is an opportunity for deeper understanding, acceptance and transformation. Therapy can be a vehicle for achieving this. I have expertise treating mood disorders, trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety and relational difficulties.

My Approach to Helping

My approach is earnest and relational. I try to create a space where people feel freely to share their deepest, most vulnerable parts of themselves.  Parts of themselves perhaps they didn't know existed.  Parts of themselves they were afraid to show for fear of rejection, ridicule.  Having this safety and freedom are the basis for healing and growth.  I try to help people become better acquainted with their emotional world in the hopes that this fosters deeper understanding, wholeness and freedom.  Having this freedom allows you to choose how you want to relate to yourself and others.  You can move on from the past into the life you want and deserve.  There are more possibilities of connection and creativity for example. I utilize a combination of exploratory and practical, hands-on approaches- relational psychoanalytic, mindfulness body based, DBT and EMDR. I have been practicing for 11 years post-masters.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that most people are trying their best and are inclined towards growth. They may have come to a point where they feel stuck because their "tried and true" solutions with how they have managed their mental and emotional distress are no longer working. Sharing your thoughts in a nonjudgmental, safe, and understanding environment can have a profound, lasting impact.
