My Ideal Client

Sometimes, life gets hard. We all experience difficulties that span from life events to day-to-day happenings. I seek to work with people to develop effective ways to cope with the hard times and thrive in the good times. In the therapy room, developing an egalitarian relationship is important to me, and being authentic and cooperative is the key to getting real work done in a way that helps you with your specific needs.

My Background and Approach

Through the modalities of CBT and ACT, a multitude of areas can be addressed and I can help individuals understand their past in a context that will breathe growth in the present and future. Through my experience in victims advocacy and crisis intervention, I have a strong base for continuous growth in supporting individuals with anxiety, depression and grief. The work I do is always in consideration of cultural contexts. Although I seek to be competent in my approach to each individuals life experience, humility is at the forefront to learn clients feelings and experiences through their eyes. In the therapeutic relationship, I seek to join the client in their experience and add dimensional understanding to how we can be effective in the work we do together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I value the idea that the client is the expert on themselves. Although as a therapist I have (and continue to) study methods in which to be an effective advocate and resource for growth, it is the client who can only understand what is truly best for them. I am an active member of the LGBTQIAA+ community and seek to promote a world in which we can thrive and be treated with decency and respect. With this desire, I have worked with The Trevor Project as a crisis counselor for at-risk LGBTQIAA+ youth and continue the mission of advocacy through educating and learning in my free time. Core to who I am as a person is the belief that everyone deserves to be heard, and it is my job to listen, learn, and ensure is congruent to their intersectional experience.
