My Ideal Client

I tend to work best with those who value a relational approach to therapy as my approach tends to be sensitive, perceptive, intimate, co-regulating, and attachment-informed. Overall, my ideal client is anyone who is dedicated to self-work and interested in exploring their inner experience. Clients that have been drawn to work with me include: the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent clients (autism spectrum, ADHD, and highly sensitive people), codependent clients, and older adults.

My Background and Approach

In 2019, I began to study psychotherapy in order to pursue my goals of providing self-empowering holistic services. I graduated from the two-year Hakomi training at the META (Mindfulness Experiential Therapy Approaches) Institute in 2021 and from the University of the Cumberlands Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023. From 2022-2023 I studied emotionally focused therapy (EFT) with Dr. Sue Johnson and began seeing couples in clinical practice at Liberation Institute. My approach to psychotherapy is first and foremost: *Relational & connected *Attentive *Collaborative *Humanistic *Person-Centered *Empathic *Compassionate *Validating *Experiential *Attachment theory-based *Trauma-informed *Focused on changing root-cause neurobiological & relational systems (rather than focusing on symptom management) ...and also: *Strengths-based *Empowering *Encouraging *Non-pathologizing *Grounded in scientific research & theory (particularly neuroscience) *Holistic & Somatic

Why I Became a Therapist

In 2015, while taking time off to recover from a work injury, I went on my first 10-day meditation retreat. During this meditation retreat, I discovered the profound connection between body and mind, and the healing power of mindfulness. Further experiences have led me to pursue my deep fascination with psychosomatic processes and the power of relational & psychological healing in psychotherapy. In 2019 I began transitioning out of nursing and started training in somatic therapy. While nursing has been a valuable experience (helping me with clients navigating medical systems, medical trauma, & death), I have found that I have the greatest impact on client wellness through psychotherapy. In the 90s, the US Public Health Service published that 7 out of 10 of the top health risks in the US were rooted not in biology, but in behavioral choices. This understanding, that psychology underlies both physical and mental wellness, has greatly inspired my choice to become a therapist.
