My Ideal Client

Whether you are an individual struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, emotional duress or other mental health issues; a parent challenged with the behaviors of your child; a partner in a relationship having communication issues or problems with connection and intimacy; a family having a hard time getting along and managing emotions in the same living space; I am here to help you through your journey in discovering the best ways to work through your struggles.

My Approach to Helping

I believe in a person/family centred approach with collaboration in treatment between the counselor and client/family. The goal of counseling overall is wellness and/or reconciliation with one’s self, family and the community. I am an integrationist in my counseling theory, which means that I believe in incorporating various theories into my practice to suit the needs of whom I am serving. I operate from a Person-Centered and Existential framework but I also draw in a wide variety of evidence based practices depending on your needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

There have been several key points in my life where I have been overwhelmed with depression, chronic pain, loss, relationship challenges, or stress. In those times I needed to become vulnerable and rely on others to support me through the process. I became a counselor because I want to be there for others who need some extra support so they can turn difficult periods of life into times of deepening maturity and healing. My fundamental attitude as a counselor is curiosity. No matter who you are or what you are done, I will accept you, learn from you, and partner with you in overcoming the challenges you face. I also approach my work with hope - positive change is possible for each person, no matter how broken they may feel.
