My Ideal Client

My clients want to make changes and gain insight about themselves. They may be dealing with depression, anxiety, or the impact of trauma and want new ways to cope. My clients might be feeling stuck or stressed out and need some support to make changes. My clients may have decided they want to change their relationship with substances. My clients may also be family members who want to work together to improve their communication, relationship, or maybe even repair harm that was done.

My Approach to Helping

I offer compassionate and evidence-based therapy for you. My approach uses motivational interviewing, mindfulness techniques, and narrative work to help you gain the motivation and insight to make changes to improve your health and wellness. I have training in Collaborative Problem Solving, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I love to use art, play, and movement in my sessions. As we meet virtually or in person we will work together to develop strategies that empower you, enhance your resilience, and help you meet your goals. I believe that everyone has the answers they’re looking for and the capacity for change. My job is to help uncover those answers and build motivation for change so the new pieces of you can root and thrive.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe for us to see true mental health and wellness we need to change the systems around us to be focused on the needs of people over profit for the few. I chose to get into social work because of the focus on social justice in the field. I have participated in community efforts and organized events to advance racial justice and equity, increase police accountability, advocate for economic and ecological justice, protest wars abroad, and decriminalize immigrants in our community. My favorite quote is from Aboriginal activist Lilla Watson: "If you have come to help me you are wasting your time. If you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."
