My Approach to Helping

Believing in our drive to connect through relationships, I work from a space of collaboration. It is my desire to accompany you, to be a witness for you and offer a safe nonjudgmental space for you to look inward and find the answers that lie within you. I strive to provide a space for individuals and couples to be able to find clarity during times of chaos. I seek to create a space that can open up dialogue for people to explore the places they feel unbalanced whether it be in work, relationships, or other forms of transition.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College, Graduate School of Education and Counseling. As a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Registered Intern with the State of Oregon, I offer a broad base of knowledge with over 8 years’ of experience spanning the spectrum of the mental health field. Prior to entering into private practice I worked in community mental health working with at risk youth and adults with severe mental health issues. As a counseling intern through Lewis and Clark, I broadened my experience by working with a wide range of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues, transitions and grief in a clinical setting.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Relational  External link

Humans strive for connectedness, to themselves, and others. At the heart of my therapeutic philosophy is my belief in the ability of every individual to create positive relationships. By creating a safe space to explore relationship patterns, I provide clients with the opportunity to create new ways of engaging and how to create fulfilling connections.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

I utilize Mindfulness-based practice to increase our awareness. Our world moves at a very fast past which impacts our stress level and emotions. I combine Mindfulness practices with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to gain greater awareness.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I specialize in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help us understand how our thoughts, feelings, and behavior impact each other and work towards changing thought patterns. My training also includes utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention treatment primarily to help those experiencing Anxiety and/or OCD.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

As a queer identified woman, it is my goal to create a safe space for people who identify as LGBTQ.

  • OCD External link

I specialize in treating OCD utilizing CBT along with Exposure and Response Prevention.

  • Anxiety External link

I specialize in treating Anxiety Disorders utilizing CBT. Anxiety is a challenging part of life that affects most people at some point. In my experience, anxious thoughts can multiply and start a downward spiral that affects self esteem, confidence, and self worth. Becoming aware of these thoughts and finding where you can stop the spiral can greatly impact the power anxiety has over your life.

  • Depression External link

Often times depression feels overwhelming and too much to manage. I believe that it is important to become mindful of negative self-talk and seek tools that will allow clients to address depression one step at a time. Depression requires planning and setting down a map of what tools to use in those moments that feel overwhelming.
