My Ideal Client

Trauma, insomnia, and chronic pain and illness can impact so many areas of a person's life, including relationships, important activities, and mental health. I love helping people feel like themselves again, especially older adults, women, queer folks, fat people, and the neurodivergent. Yes, this world is chaotic and scary, but let's flex your agency and help you re-connect with yourself.

My Background and Approach

I'm trained as a health psychologist, and I am well-versed in treating chronic pain conditions, POTS and dysautonomia, interstitial cystitis (IC), and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). In fact, my "day job" is in the Comprehensive Pain Clinic at OHSU. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in chronic pain management at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a predoctoral internship at the Cincinnati VA. I earned my doctorate and master's degree at Pacific University, where I was awarded the Outstanding Student Award in 2018 and 2022. I am passionate about weight stigma, having published, presented, and written a dissertation on the topic. I have also published an article on the patient's experience of living with POTS. In my work, I have witnessed how interpersonal trauma can contribute to the above conditions. I offer intensive EMDR for people short on time or looking for big changes in a short period. I also offer CBT for insomnia and clinical hypnosis.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

This world is frightening for so many of us right now. We're regularly facing existential threats that impact our safety, housing, environment, healthcare, and overall wellbeing. And yet, we still have the agency to calm our nervous systems, to connect with others, to get better sleep, to overcome our traumas, and feel better in our bodies. I would love to help get you back to you.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

I work with PTSD and sub-clinical trauma, complex trauma. I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and EMDR intensives.

  • Insomnia External link

I am trained in providing cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). It is the gold standard treatment for insomnia, working more effectively and with fewer side effects than any prescription or OTC sleep aid on the market. It is data-driven and you can see improvements in your sleep in just a couple weeks.

  • Chronic Pain or Illness External link
