My Ideal Client

The common thread among my clients is the commitment to the change process. My integrated approach works to address and heal wounds deep at the source, rather than treating symptoms. Individuals who are searching for something deeper, to free themselves from trauma or limited internal constructs. We will employ a body-centered, trauma-informed approach - individuals who welcome and are looking for a holistic solution will truly thrive under my care.

My Background and Approach

With other a decade of clinical practice, my approach to therapy begins with the interconnectedness of mind, body, soul, and spirit. I support individuals as they feel, digest, and embody the full range of human emotions, leading to the experience of being alive and living in the present. Each therapy session is a step forward, nurturing insights, fostering a deep sense of presence, and unveiling connections previously unexplored. As a licensed marriage and family psychotherapist with a body-oriented approach, my foundational training was completed in Berkeley, CA. Later, I completed my doctorate in Somatics at the Pacifica Graduate Institute, focusing on Jungian depth psychotherapy. My doctoral research delved into the realms of community dream groups, the role of imagination within the body, and the power of archetypal rituals. These areas of study have deeply influenced my therapeutic practice, enriching it with a nuanced understanding of the human psyche.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Through many transformations, much gained, and layers shed, my commitment to mindfulness and inner healing was necessary for my work as a clinician. Living in France, I absorbed a culture that values deep connection, artistry, and the beauty of the everyday, enriching my practice with a sense of presence and appreciation for life’s nuances. My journey continued as I earned a Master’s in Anthropology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I explored the vast tapestry of human cultures and rituals. This blend of French cultural immersion and anthropological study deeply informed my approach to mindfulness, integrating a global perspective into my therapeutic work. My journey’s arc brought me back to Portland where I now offer its fruits to others through healing therapy. Together, we will embark on an adventure of self-discovery and healing, leveraging the power of mindfulness, the wisdom of the body, and the depth of the psyche to facilitate transformation and growth.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

Somatic therapy recognizes the connection between your body and your psyche. The body is where our earliest emotional patterns were formed. The body is also where we hold trauma and abuse. By working directly with your body in psychotherapy, connecting sensations and symptoms to psychic processes, we work towards changing and resetting your nervous system to support re-inhabiting yourself at a cellular level.

  • Couples Counseling External link

Couples counseling is a type of therapy that helps partners in a romantic relationship gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction utilizing various therapeutic interventions. One effective approach used in couples counseling is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is based on the premise that emotional responses shape both the harmony and discord in relationships. It focuses on helping couples identify and understand their emotional needs.

  • Depth Therapy External link

Depth psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that delves into the unconscious processes influencing an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It seeks to uncover deep-seated emotional issues and unresolved conflicts that often stem from past experiences, including trauma. This type of therapy involves exploring a person’s personal history and unconscious mind to better understand their current psychological state.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

Healing sources of trauma is the primary goal of my style of practice. I have over a decade of experience working with individuals and couples utilizing the methods of Somatic Therapy. My therapeutic work is enhanced by Trauma-Informed Care. I work on integrating body awareness to uncover and address the root causes of stress and trauma, rather than treating symptoms.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

My couples work is enhanced by Emotion-Focused Therapy which informs a highly integrated and healing-focused approach to my clients. Through this approach, we work to strengthen your inner voice, which cultivates a healthier voice in your relationships. Fostering communication is a primary focus for couples looking to heal difficult patterns and addictive behaviors.

  • Spirituality External link

My personal journey has led to numerous spiritual and meditative retreats and healing environments. I have over a decade of experience working with individuals and couples utilizing the methods of Depth Psychotherapy. My approach encourages interaction with one's inner world. The rich tapestry of imagination, inner worlds, and dreams serves as a transformative vehicle, guiding individuals through the intricate landscape of the psyche.
