My Ideal Client

I have experience working with people from different racial, cultural, sexual, and gender identities, as well as diverse relationship configurations. I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for people of all identities. Concrete ways I create this space include continued research and reading, volunteering with local community organizations supporting LBGTQ+ and BIPOC communities, and working to confront my biases through humility and curiosity.

My Approach to Helping

I believe that we as humans do not function within a silo, but are impacted by genetics, upbringing, relationships, identities, societal systems, and more. My goal for our work together is to understand how these experiences have shaped you and how you move through the world. Through this understanding, we can challenge thought patterns, determine what is in your control, and identify inherent strengths that help you navigate life’s challenges. I practice from a strengths-based perspective and incorporate interventions from ACT, CBT, and mindfulness to help clients meet their goals. With a compassionate and collaborative approach, we can identify what truly matters to you and take meaningful action toward a life aligned with your values.

More About the People I Treat

Through my training and career, I have developed a particular interest in working with chronic pain and health behaviors, young adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. However, I welcome individuals with any concerns or identities if you feel drawn to my personality and philosophy.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I utilize ACT and mindfulness to help clients identify what truly matters to them and take meaningful action toward a life aligned with their values. I have utilized ACT interventions for several years and find them most helpful when addressing anxiety, depression, chronic pain/illness, and life transitions.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Chronic Pain or Illness External link

I completed a year of dedicated training in how to work with chronic pain, chronic illness, and health behaviors. As a person with chronic pain, I understand the day to day struggles and strive to provide compassion alongside interventions that can help improve your daily life.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

As a queer woman, I can understand some of the stigma and oppression the LGBTQ+ community faces today. In addition, I have worked with members of the LGBTQ+ community since graduate school and strive to create a safe place to explore all aspects of identity and relationships. This includes a space to express and process difficult emotions and receive support through experiences of discrimination.

  • Insomnia External link

Many people struggle to regulate sleep and have tried all the tips and tricks from friends or the internet. I am trained in providing CBT-Insomnia and CPAP adherence therapy, which goes beyond sleep hygiene and can improve your sleep patterns.
