My Ideal Client

I have experience working with individuals seeking support for disordered eating behaviors, body-image concerns, trauma-related concerns, identity development, & the spectrum of relationship concerns. I am passionate about supporting women of color, in particular – Latina/e women & women who are of mixed race/ethnicities. My philosophy is that clients are the experts on their lives & I am honored to walk alongside them as they find their optimal health.

My Approach to Helping

As a Chicana feminist psychologist, my specialty is working with clients on their relationships with their body, themselves, & others as they navigate life changes. My multicultural feminist training includes anti-racism/anti-oppressive work & LGBTQ+ empowerment. I have worked with all ages, though I specialize in young adulthood/adulthood. I aim to guide clients as they work toward their own definition of health & finding their empowerment. I am dedicated to working collaboratively & aim to infuse every session with empathy, curiosity, compassion, collaboration, and a little bit of humor. If you're in a space ready to grow & heal, please schedule a free consultation.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As I've said, client's are the experts on their own lives and get to determine what their ideal health looks and feels like. As I've also mentioned, as a Chicana feminist, I recognize we contain multitudes and exist on this Earth with all it's influences (both great and no so great, or down right bad). With this in mind, I believe we are all humans doing our best with what we've got. My personal beliefs beyond that is that every human has a right to bodily autonomy, to love and be loved by whomever, and that the only way we get better is through a safe community and mutual aid.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Feminist External link

Feminist therapy for me functions as the lens in which I understand client's presenting concerns and then use various interventions from other orientations for treatment. Basically this means that one of the goals in every session with me is to empower the client in front of me and help them find their internal power.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Body Image Issues External link

In my training and research, I examined the impacts of body image concerns on BIPOC folx, women-identified individuals, and trans and gender-expansive folx across the lifespan.

  • Women's Issues External link

In my training and research, I focused on the experiences of women, specifically Latina/x women.
