I’ve noticed some typical themes in the clients that I work with. My clients tend to really like to think and analyze and genuinely seem to enjoy the collaborative process of therapy. Many would describe themselves as perfectionists or have otherwise tried to navigate or cope with the world by being "good" or accomplished. Most commonly, my clients are drawn to therapy because they feel a buzzing low level anxiety and don’t feel as comfortable in their own skin as they would like.
Specialties
I believe that each client is unique and has different needs in therapy at different times. Therefore, I employ an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing from different established models as they complement each individual.
Specialties
Guidance around anxiety is often oriented towards talking a person out of how they are feeling, which can work on the surface, but can leave the person alone with those same anxious thoughts. I take a different approach. By exploring and identifying the needs and concerns that anxiety is trying to address, we can find more adaptive ways to meet those needs an/or identify where anxiety has become a habitual pattern or reflexive response that is no longer useful to you.
Couples choose to work with me for many reasons, but my approach particularly aligns with couples who have concerns related to failing to connect and/or understand your partner, navigating differing values, personalities and habits, two-career households, co-habitating, work/life balance, thinking about and/or making a long-term commitment, and life transitions such as the addition of a new child.
Your unique experiences and personality shape how you react and relate to your unique child. Without support, it can be difficult to transcend those experiences and be the parent and partner you want to be. With support, I have seen clients experience a tremendous amount of healing about their own painful experiences by feeling more influence over how those experiences play out in the present.
This is an interesting and challenging time for both men and women as we navigate changing gender norms and expectations. I’ve worked with many women on the unique experiences caused by these changes, especially struggles with relationships.
I know firsthand that issues surrounding fertility are emotionally, physically and financially grueling, and at times devastating. Without support, the experience of infertility can take a toll on your self-esteem, quality of life, work, and relationships. I provide an environment where you can experience the highs and lows, losses and celebrations and figure out how to cope.
