Specialties
EMDR has been described as a bottom-up therapy, because in order to reprocess disturbing experiences and since trauma lives in parts of our brain that are difficult to access by talk therapy, we need a bodily-aware modality that can help the processing in a deeper level. Once we do that, we can effectively use our verbal-rational skills to complete the reprocessing.
Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play to help children and teens express their emotions and process difficult experiences. Through the use of specialized toys and techniques, children can work through issues such as anxiety, trauma, or behavioral challenges in a safe, supportive environment. At MindTree Holistic Counseling, the focus is on helping young clients build emotional resilience, social skills, and self-esteem in a child-centered, developmentally appropriate way.
We offer both psychotherapy and wellness services like Reiki, Yoga, and Ayurveda all under one umbrella. We treat the person as a whole, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with customized treatment plans.
The use of art therapy in combination with traditional talk therapy allows clients to connect with themselves, their bodies, thoughts, emotions, and relationships at a deeper level without the limitations of words. Art therapy is accessible to anyone, not just an “artist”, as the purpose behind the art making is the process not the final product.
The use guided imagery and other processes can help clients address address goals by taking them to the deepest level of relaxation, guiding into their subconscious mind.
Specialties
Some degree of worrying is normal and even helpful (it’s why we wear seatbelts and look both ways before we cross the street!) but when the worry feels like it’s happening all the time and getting in the way of you living your life, it’s important to do something about it. Many people struggle with anxiety in their day to day lives and at MindTree, we help children, young adults and teens, and adults navigate this.
Through counseling at MindTree, we will help your child to: -Explore and address the root causes of their anxiety through age-appropriate therapy such as play therapy, art therapy, and talk therapy. -Learn ways to cope with triggers for their anxiety. -Think differently in moments of anxiety to help them from getting overwhelmed. -Learn skills to help them calm themselves during moments of anxiety. -Gradually build their confidence to face their fears.
Grief comes with the territory of being human. You may be grieving the death of a loved one. (By that I mean a two-legged, four-legged, finned, feathered, or scaled loved one.) Or you may be grieving the loss of a career, or the loss of your health, or the end of a marriage or relationship, or an estrangement of a family member, or the loss of what you thought a functional society should look like, or multiple things all at once. Grief comes in all shapes and sizes.
Eating disorders are unique in comparison to some other mental illnesses, as they manifest physically as well as mentally. There are numerous eating disorders with varying symptoms and diagnostic criteria, however each have a complicated relationship with food and the body, often involving dangerous behaviors. Eating disorders do not discriminate and affect people of all sizes, ages, genders, sexualities, ethnicities, religions, and socioeconomic status.
