My Ideal Client

I work with a wide range of people who are looking to take action and make changes in their lives. I believe that change doesn't just come from talking about it, but making tangible goals and plans to build a more meaningful path in life. I use curiosity, creativity, humor, and collaborative problem solving. I focus on treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, and overall dissatisfaction with life. ***SCHEDULING DETAIL: MONDAY MORNING AVAILIBILITY ONLY AT THIS TIME***

My Background and Approach

My therapeutic approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Ecopyschology, and Narrative therapy. I support my clients in building awareness, finding strategies for solutions, and becoming more engaged with the people you love in the process. I've practice in a variety of settings, such as wilderness therapy in the desert, a yurt for an office in a garden, medical setting, and private practice. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Colorado College and a Master of Arts in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College.

Why I Became a Therapist

My first job out of college was as a guide in a wilderness therapy program in Idaho. I quickly learned that growth can happen when people developed connections with others, had someone believing in them, and pushed themselves to their limits. I felt honored to walk alongside people making changes in their lives. I have since spent my professional life working together with countless people who have made powerful, sustainable changes.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EcoTherapy External link

Nature- based forms of therapy are central part to my approach. I have years of experience working as a Wilderness Therapy guide, along with extensive studies in Ecopsychology. I believe that in building awareness of our connection to nature, we can become healthier.

  • Narrative  External link

I value and honor the story each person has to tell. When individuals, families, and communities collaborate to begin writing the story they want to exist in, changes occur. Through narrative therapy, I assist clients in exploring how problems get stuck in the language we use to communicate to ourselves and others, while helping you to start telling a story that serves as a catalyst for change.

  • Family Systems External link

Family shapes who you become. Each generation influences the next. Family Systems Therapy offers an opportunity to rediscover the healing benefits of being in healthy contact with the people we love. I provide a safe space for mindfully interacting person to person, creating the structure for new growth to occur. I am adept at bringing a family together through humor, creativity, and openness

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I have extensive training in ACT. I believe aligning with your values, making committed steps to action, and engaging with what matters are key to change.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Personal Growth External link

Regardless of where you are in life, having support as you navigate can be useful. I work with people who are stuck, in a transition, or just want to grow as a person. Through building awareness of how you operate and exist within your story, we can explore how to grow into the life you want to live.

  • Men's Issues External link

Men's work is an area of focus within my practice. Many men have been conditioned to experience emotions in an unhealthy manner. I work with men of all kinds to become more aware and grounded in who they are within their masculinity. Additionally, by meeting in my yurt office and being able to go outdoors into the garden, I offer an alternative to the traditional talk therapy setting.

  • Family Conflict External link

I hold a Master's Degree in Family Therapy. Operating within Family Systems Therapy is a significant piece of my practice. I will work with all parts of a family in order to move towards shift in the entire dynamic. By building awareness of our role in the family and the patterns that exist, positive changes in the ways of relating to each other can occur.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

I hold a Master's Degree in Couples, Marriage, and Family Therapy. Relationship issues are my area of specialization. I work with you in addressing the relationship challenges you face, understanding the underlying emotions, and building strategies for healthier communication.

  • Anxiety External link

There are tons of reasons to experience anxiety in the world we live. Anxious feelings and the struggles it creates is a central part of my practice. I work with you to become more grounded and calm in the hectic world we live. I blend narrative therapy, mindfulness practice, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, to reduce levels of anxiety.
