My Ideal Client

I work with adults in individual therapy focused on healing past trauma, developing effective coping strategies to manage anxiety or panic symptoms, or navigating a difficult life transition, such as new parenthood. I particularly enjoy working with perfectionists, people employed in the helping professions, and individuals who find it hard to "get out their heads".

My Background and Approach

I graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2005, with a BA in Fine Arts. I then completed a Masters in Art Therapy Counseling from Marylhurst University in 2011. I have experience in a variety of clinical settings, including residential/subacute care, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, and outpatient therapy. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon since 2015. Along the way, I have discovered a passion for working with trauma, including complex/developmental trauma and how early attachment patterns continue to show up in our relationships as adults. I would describe my therapeutic style as relational and eclectic, meaning I don’t adhere to one modality exclusively. I am trained in Somatic and Attachment Focused (SAFE) EMDR and also utilize modalities such as IFS/Parts Work, Mindfulness, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and expressive arts in my work with clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the power of connection and curiosity, and I strive to meet clients with compassion, wherever they are on their healing journeys. I am committed to providing therapy that is collaborative, responsive, and affirming. Though I do not identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am an ally and am committed to understanding dynamics of privilege and oppression. I am neurodivergent affirming and Health at Every Size informed. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, including my partner, son, and our two cats, Ollie and Vesper. I am also involved in my community, helping organize neighborhood events and volunteering at my son’s school. I am Oregon born and raised, and am continuously grateful to call this beautiful place my home!

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I utilize Somatic and Attachment Focused (SAFE) EMDR, which is a highly effective trauma reprocessing modality focused on reducing distress associated with past memories while also redefining our beliefs about self. SAFE EMDR brings more awareness to the somatic (ie, body-based) aspects of trauma reprocessing, as well as how early attachment patterns impact our view of self, our relationships, and our behaviors. I completed my SAFE EMDR Level I training in 2019.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

I specialize in treating PTSD and other trauma-related diagnoses, including complex and attachment trauma. I utilize Somatic and Attachment Focused (SAFE) EMDR, other somatic modalities, mindfulness, and compassion-focused therapy.
