My Ideal Client

Have you experienced a loss of some kind in your life ? Grief is a difficult process to go through on your own no matter the type of loss and I am here to give you the space and the tools to navigate those losses. Do you experience food and body image concerns that impact the way you see yourself and your relationship with food? Food and body image issues are something that many of us struggle to understand daily. Trauma and/or narcissistic abuse? This is a safe space to process your experience.

My Approach to Helping

My approach to helping my clients is to stay in the moment with them and meet them where they are from week to week. I utilize creativity as a tool for my clients to see themselves, their experiences, and the world in different ways. I also use feminist theory to give my clients the opportunity to understand the ways in which we are often oppressed and how that impacts the way we see ourselves in the world. Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy is another way to allow my clients to see clearly their perspective on themselves and the world as they process their feelings related to their experiences. Restoration therapy provides the tools to look back at your childhood and upbringing to give you a better picture of where and why you began responding a particular way in certain situations along with ways to adjust those responses when you are ready.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a single mom who's little boy is the light and love of my life. I am vegan for many reasons while I also understand that each and every one of us has a journey to take with food and our journeys will look very different. I am on a spiritual journey at the moment and it is okay that I have no idea where that journey will take me. I have a strong connection to the arts whether that be dance and choreography, music and singing, acting, or poetry and writing. I am originally from California but moved to Oregon in 2009 and from the moment I got to Oregon it felt like a fit in a way that no other place ever had. I have experienced a lot of grief in my life which gives me a personal connection to a very difficult issue when it comes to processing the feelings associated with grief.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Feminist External link

I am passionate about utilizing tools that empower people who have been oppressed and marginalized. This particular theory along with Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy blend well with creativity in counseling.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Loss or Grief External link

I have experienced great loss in my life through, death, relationships ending, or the ending of something specific in my life. I ran a grief group during my internship and I tend to utilize creativity and bibliotherapy when dealing with loss or grief.
