My Ideal Client

I support people experiencing post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns, as they rediscover their own powerful wisdom and learn to trust themselves. In particular, I often support people in building self-esteem, overcoming social anxiety, creating stronger boundaries, forming the relationships they want, and giving themselves permission to be who they truly are.

My Background and Approach

I use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to offer therapy customized to your individual needs. My approach is informed by my formal training in psychodynamic counseling and also by my own spiritual path, including a residency at a Buddhist monastery. The psychodynamic approach utilizes the therapeutic relationship you and I will build as a tool to heal past trauma. I also utilize Internal Family Systems counseling (IFS), which is a form of "parts work." This modality is based on the observation that we all contain somewhat individuated psychological "parts" inside of us, which may have different motivations and needs. (If you've ever heard terms like the "inner critic" or the "inner child", this might sound familiar). I also use CBT and DBT interventions to support you in seeing through fixed, limiting beliefs that may be holding you back, and build emotion regulation and self-esteem. When we believe our thoughts, we suffer. By questioning them, we can free ourselves.

More About the People I Treat

Oftentimes, people come to therapy with with limiting beliefs about themselves, including shame and hopelessness. Unfortunately and despite their best intentions, mental health professionals sometimes play a role in unconsciously reinforcing these limiting beliefs for clients, due to fear, ignorance, and systemic factors. If you feel your problems are too big, or your mind is too broken, or you have been given a diagnosis that feels limiting, or you feel rejected or let down by the mental health world in general, I want to encourage you to reach out! I offer an approach that is inclusive and accepting. I focus on building a therapeutic relationship that meets your unique needs and preferences and allows your to do your best work of self-discovery and healing, no matter how challenging that work may appear right now.
