My Approach to Helping

I am committed to creating a collaborative space in which you and I can work together to cultivate change. My approach is informed by my values and qualities of empathy, authenticity, openness, and social justice. I believe in gently challenging clients and pushing them outside of their comfort zone while focusing on and acknowledging their sources of strength and resiliency. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into much of my work, where we will focus on changing maladaptive behaviors and disengaging from negative thought patterns.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

With Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we learn to accept the experience of our thoughts and feelings, rather than attempting to avoid or control them. We also set out on a path of self-discovery, uncovering our values and what truly matters to us. ACT teaches us to let that information guide us, so that we may pursue the life we desire; one that brings us meaning and fulfillment.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the gold standard therapeutic approach for treating anxiety, depression, and insomnia. If any of these concerns are taking from your peace in the day or keeping you up at night, I hope it imbues you with hope to know that there is a path forward to change.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy External link

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence based psychotherapy used mainly to treat anxiety disorders such as OCD, Social Anxiety, Panic, and Phobias. Anxiety can feel so overwhelming that we may start to believe the story it's creating. In fact, our anxiety may be so intense that we feel it's intolerable altogether. We may start engaging in avoidance, even of the things we want to be doing. ERP helps us to interrupt these patterns and face our fears.

  • Humanistic  External link

At the forefront of my work, I am human. Although I am passionate about behavioral techniques, that comes secondary to our shared humanity. It is my pursuit to always make space for you and your experiences. I am committed to supporting you and allowing to "come as you are". I have been told that I am warm and compassionate and hope to bring those qualities with me wherever I go.
