My Approach to Helping

My mission is to create a safe container for you to connect more authentically with yourself and in your relationships. I use a blend of emotionally focused therapy, parts work, and experiential interventions to facilitate deep emotional change. As we work together, I hope to create opportunities for you to process difficult emotions, shift patterns that are no longer serving you, and experience new ways of being in relationship with others!

Why I Became a Therapist

For as long as I can remember, I have been keenly aware of the impact our relationships and communities have on our well-being. Growing up queer in a religious community that wasn’t accepting, I never felt comfortable exploring or expressing my own emotions and sexuality. As I’ve gotten older and become a part of new communities, I’ve seen first-hand the impact of acceptance, mutual trust, and authenticity in our relationships. These experiences sparked a passion for working in a field that prioritizes our relationships with one another and with the communities and systems that impact us. As a therapist, I hope to help clients explore new ways to engage with themselves and others, as well as provide opportunities to process difficult feelings.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Since beginning as a therapist, my training and experience have centered work with couples in conflict. I draw on emotionally focused interventions to increase awareness around patterns that aren't serving your relationships and facilitate lasting emotional change. My experience includes advanced training in utilizing EFT with LGBTQ+ couples.

  • Sexual Problems External link

I first started taking classes on sex and sexuality during my undergraduate program and went on to specialize in sexuality during my graduate training and work as an associate. As a therapist, I hope to help clients find new ways to experience sexual embodiment and build safety around discussing sexuality with their partners. My experience working with couples includes topics such as mismatched sexual desire, the impact of religious trauma on sexuality, and anxiety during sexual intimacy.
