My Ideal Client

My clients are most often people who want to explore their identities, gain a deeper understanding of their lived experience, are experiencing structural oppression, and/or want to heal their relationship with food and their body. Many of my clients are neurodivergent (often ADHD/autism), managing symptoms of bipolar, struggling with anxiety and depression, and/or healing from disordered eating.

My Approach to Helping

My approach to supporting clients in their healing integrates a decolonial lens and considers the impact of structural oppression on my client's lived experience. My work is informed by the wisdom of BIPOC healers, activists who have openly critiqued and fought against systems of oppression, and my training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I use person centered theory as my compass, due to its emphasis on the client's experience and providing support from a client centered place. I try my best to straddle what is necessary to maintain my registration with the OR board as a professional counselor associate and manage a private practice, while also attempting to maintain my values as an abolitionist and anti-capitalist.

Why I Became a Therapist

Throughout my teens and twenties I struggled to connect to therapists who did not understand my lived experience as someone who exists at the crossroads of marginalization and is an activist. I often felt that I spent a lot of time educating my therapists, explaining my point of view, and feeling frustrated by the lack of awareness of politics or lived experience as an activist. I decided to become a therapist because I could see that many other community members were also struggling to find support that considers some of the most important aspects of our identities and lived experience. I know the value of finding someone who gets it, and I hope I can be that person for you.
