My Approach to Helping

I have experience working with Adolescents, Adults, Families, and Couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity issues. I approach therapy with the understanding that we are all shaped by experiences throughout our lives in context with our family of origin and cultural background. These experiences inform how we make meaning in our lives. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important element of therapy within which we collaborate to discover a meaningful change. I primarily practice Contemporary Gestalt Therapy, an evidence-based practice that seeks to build awareness in the present moment and understand how you make meaning of your environment. From this perspective symptoms of mental illness are our attempt to cope with inner and environmental distress. Our work in therapy will be supporting these symptoms and becoming curious about their intended function which paradoxically leads to their resolution.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I earned my Masters in Applied Psychological Science, with an emphasis in Latino/a Psychology from Pacific University. I have experience working with culturally diverse populations which include Asian, Native American, and Latino/a/x, Adolescents, and adults. I utilize EFT for relationship work. I also conduct sessions in Spanish for patients needing a Spanish-speaking clinician.
