My Ideal Client

I believe all individuals have the capacity to change, grow, and find joy in the passing of time. I feel it is truly a privilege to be a part of this journey with clients. My background is in mental health and I have worked in a various number of settings. I see ages ranging from 13- older adulthood. I welcome individuals of all identities and backgrounds, I am an LGBTQ+ affirming counselor, practicing cultural humility, and acknowledging social inequities that shape our experiences.

My Approach to Helping

Since no two people are the same, no treatment should look the same. I believe in individualizing the counseling experience to the client and their unique needs. Thus, I practice with a trans-theoretical model or across theories. I take into account your readiness for change, your strengths, and your developmental level to create a working relationship that allows for growth and resilience building. Some approaches I have utilized in the past include Wellness Based Counseling, EcoWellness/ EcoTherapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Existential Therapy. However, there are some commonalities to my approach, I always take a strengths based and humanistic perspective, meaning I will work with your strengths and approach our sessions with genuineness, compassion, and understanding of the importance of being listened to, heard, and validated.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Some of my core values include authenticity, advocacy, and openness. I view myself as a guide in your healing journey and work to empower you to be the leader in this journey. I recognize that you are the expert of yourself and your experiences and I find joy in listening and learning about you. I gained experience working in community mental health centers, residential housing for homeless youth, young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and felt now was the time to open my private practice. Throughout my doctorate program I focused my research efforts on utilizing nature in the counseling process and continue to research this topic. I spend most of my free time finding outdoor activities that I can do with my dog, Todd. I enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, camping, backpacking, and more. I also love to read books, listen to true crime podcasts, garden, watercolor paint, and make jewelry.
