My Ideal Client

I serve adult individuals who are both curious about their healing journey and ready for change. Over the years, I have worked with clients who collectively hold a variety of identities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and cultures. My clients tend to have experienced childhood trauma, attachment wounding, complex-PTSD, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, relational concerns, and life transitions. Some are also hoping to deepen their spiritual practice or connection to Nature.

My Approach to Helping

I believe that healing happens through connection. The therapeutic relationship is the medium through which we will practice communication, honesty, authenticity, vulnerability, safety, compassion, and mindful presence with one another. I believe that you, the client, are the expert of your own experience, and together we will curiously explore your emotional, physical, and spiritual experiences with intention. I align with Trauma Informed Care, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Somatic Psychotherapy which emphasize gentleness, Radical Authenticity, decreasing shame, compassion as a learnable skill, and honoring our mind-body experiences. Additionally, my work is guided by Multicultural and Social Justice orientations, meaning that our work together will include exploration around your cultural identities and potential greater social systems at play. Healing is not a linear process, but together we will meet the ebbs and flows of your journey with honesty, care, and probably some humor!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Neurodivergent Therapist who has spent years healing from my own trauma. As someone who has been both failed and supported by the system, I feel adept at managing the complexity and nuance of healing in a choatic world. I am very passionate about providing specialized trauma informed care to individuals and couples, as well as to folks who are Neurodivergent (self-diagnosed, formally diagnosed, or curious) or who hold other marginalized identities. Often, my clients hold multiple intersections of identity and I enjoy being able to support folks from a relational and systems framework. Some fun stuff: my primary special interest is my job! My other passions include my cat, Ruby (see photo above), reading, music, dancing, singing, being in nature, traveling, and experiencing food in all the ways that I possibly can. I am learning about myself, life, and relationships all the time which I find keeps my work dynamic and engaging. I feel deeply honored to grow alongside my clients.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Attachment Theory External link

Early childhood and relational experiences are at the heart of many mental health related diagnoses and symptoms. We will likely explore how you developed into the person you are today and if you have any behaviors or concerns that you would like to evolve from. We will practice relational ways of being together, so that you may start to experience relationships differently outside of therapy.

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

I am currently receiving supervision from a Somatic Psychotherapy Mental Health Professional, and completed my internship program at a somatically oriented practice. Over the years, I have gained knowledge and experience in healing stored trauma in the body. My approach is slow and gentle, we will practice learning how to listen to your body's cues and innate wisdom.

  • EcoTherapy External link

Incorporating Nature into counseling does not necessarily mean that we have to go on a long hike together (although we could!). In fact, many of the ways in which I incorporate Nature into counseling can be done over Telehealth. We might explore your attachments towards geographical locations, discover activities that you find to be rejuvenating, or incorporate Nature into our mindfulness work. Therapy can be a dynamic space where we get creative together about your treatment.
