My Ideal Client

I provide individual and relational counseling to adults from variety of backgrounds. So far, my clients tend to be trans, queer, autistic, neurodivergent, polyamorous or in non-traditional relationship, and families of queer and trans folks. I have experience working with trauma, grief, life transitions, gender/sexuality transitions, low self esteem, relational conflicts, chronic pain, and ongoing racism.

My Approach to Helping

I offer a tailored approach to fit your unique needs and framework. Sessions typically involve Socratic questioning, mindfulness exercises, and creative interventions. I tend to encourage clients to bring attention to their bodies and explore how the body is responding to what we are talking about, as I believe the mind/body connection is imperative for regulation and growth. One of many ways I provide a affirming space is encouraging clients to bring their comfort items, stimming equipment, and to move their bodies in session. I attempt to minimize unbalanced power dynamics inherent in the therapeutic relationship by seeking feedback from clients on an ongoing basis. So far, clients have told me that my approach is warm, authentic, and direct.

Why I Became a Therapist

I became a counselor because of my own lived experience as a client. Overall, I thought the field lacked authenticity, empathy, and understanding that the systems are not built for most people. What was most helpful for me and what encouraged me to join the field was a therapeutic relationship that was truly transformational. I became a counselor because I want to support people through their own transformations, no matter what that may look like. I became a counselor because I wanted to change the systems within the system.
