My Ideal Client

I work with your needs. I create space to explore your past and current selves. My ideal client is willing to reflect on the past and how it relates to the present and is ready to feel their emotions, even if some of them may be difficult or haven't been fully felt in a long time. You are willing to work on yourself in and out of session. Our therapeutic relationship is collaborative. My work with couples involves learning compassionate and non-judgemental listening techniques.

My Background and Approach

The most important tools I possess are my listening ability and empathy. The main therapeutic effect then becomes the real relationship you and I create. Through my work as a counselor, I provide a space for you to explore and work through feelings you've never put a name to. I believe Western society has left us detached from our emotions. I can help you learn to trust your emotions. By letting you be yourself and say whatever comes to mind, you can access unknown parts of yourself that deserve to be heard. Talking is just one of the tools we can utilize to find those parts of you that may be hidden; through art, music, and movement, we can communicate with the whole of you. My approach is integrative, meaning I pull from different techniques catered to you. Using humanistic, person-centered, and psychodynamic techniques, we can build a trusting relationship where you feel safe to explore. I believe everyone possesses an unconscious that is ready to be listened to.

Social Justice Issues I Care About

I am invested in helping people find their self that has been covered over by capitalism and societal expectations. I believe social media has exacerbated the loss of community and intimate relationships that neoliberal policies helped erode over the last five decades. I believe in community activism and solidarity. Through my counseling work, I hope to help LGBTQ2SIA+ communities, People of Color, BIPOC individuals and organizations, and low-income individuals. I am deeply concerned by the effects of climate change. I'm willing and able to explore the feelings of grief that may be associated with climate change. I have worked with many people who have experienced unexplainable or paranormal events. I am non-judgemental and open-minded to all types of spiritual and metaphysical beliefs.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • ADHD External link

Our culture is obsessed with productivity. ADHD doesn't mean you haven't tried hard enough to implement the best "organizational hacks." You are unique with your own story to tell. Cutting through the societal stigmas and personal shame about this diagnosis is often the first step to self-understanding.

  • Spirituality External link

Modern society has stripped away spirituality and sold it back to us in wellness trends and self-help fads. I believe human spirituality can't be fully narrowed down or defined, but I do think it is reflective of how a person understands themselves through community. Capitalism and neoliberalism have eroded our sense of community and I want to help restore it by starting with you.

  • Men's Issues External link

Men often hold unconscious beliefs that they must hold in their emotions lest they be perceived as "weak." Or that the only acceptable emotions to express are anger and aggression. I believe vulnerability is a sign of strength. I have worked with men to uncover repressed emotions and put a name to them, allowing them new ways of being.

  • Polyamorous and Open Relationships External link

I have worked with couples to come to a mutual understanding about needs that are difficult to express or put words to. I have no preconceived notions about how a relationship should function or look. I help implement listening techniques that will give each person time to be fully heard by others.
