Are you an adult or adolescent feeling like life if really hard right now? Are you going through a big change? or feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed? I frequently work with people who struggle with anxiety, depression or are coping with grief and loss. Life can be really hard, but you don't have to get through it alone. Therapy can be helpful when we want to move through challenges, to find more peace, joy or balance.

IFS is another way of describing how we all have parts within us. If you've ever had a conversation with yourself (or an argument with yourself) you'll know what I mean. Parts work helps us deeply listen to ourselves, learn to appreciate and love all sides to ourselves and helps our internal word function a little smoother. I find it to be a very empowering and deep approach to healing that can make a big difference for folks.
I hold a MS in Marital, Couple and Family therapy from Portland State University and have training and experience working with highly conflictual families. Family therapy can help systems increase healthy functioning and shift patterns that have been in place for years and sometimes generations. I utilize various family therapy approaches to help family meet the goals they set. Although I don't work with young children directly any longer, I love coaching parents and working with adult families.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which is a wonderfully powerful (and simple) tool for working through traumatic memories or difficult experiences. I typically integrate EMDR in with other modalities when the time is right for folks.
Specialties
Working towards personal growth and wellness is an excellent reason to enter into therapy. Often times we get so busy in our daily lives, that we forget to put aside time to explore these important themes. I support people in identifying and exploring their own strengths, values and spiritual beliefs in order to live full and healthy lives. This process can begin at any time and at any age.
Many people attend therapy due to unresolved hurts and wounds from traumatic events in their lives. I support people in healing past hurts through a variety of talk therapies, and also body-centric modalities to deeply effect change and help people move on to find joy and balance in their lives.
Anxiety can arrise in people's lives for various reasons; difficulty coping with life changes, relationship conflict, unresolved trauma, biological predisposition or living a lifestyle that is incompatible with your core beliefs or values. I treat Anxiety through a combination of finding ways to cope and reduce anxiety in the moment, and inviting clients to explore options for deeper healing.
