My Approach to Helping
My therapeutic approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential-humanistic therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. These methods focus on compassionate acceptance, personal responsibility, and a deep understanding of the multifaceted nature of the self. I also understand that therapeutic approaches are not a one-size-fits-all, and I often pull from many different approaches to explore what works best for you and your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that through deeper understanding and radical acceptance, we can cultivate change, as well as more compassion for ourselves and for others. I believe that especially challenging times can be an opportunity to gain more self-awareness, explore our narratives, and to grow. As you guide our work, I offer a caring, non-judgmental space for you to explore your values, find strength, to heal, grow, and better live a life that aligns with your authenticity.
As a trans and queer person, I’ve been acquainted with some of the many issues that can come along while exploring, becoming, and living as your most authentic self. I strive to recognize the ways in which my privileged and marginalized identities show up in my work and life, to practice cultural humility, and to root myself in a trauma-informed lens.
Outside of being a counselor, I am a musician, book lover, nature lover, and a parent.
