My Ideal Client

Most of my clients come to me believing there is something wrong with them. Whether it's beliefs about the way they look or how they feel, they are experiencing suffering as a result. Just about everyone experiences mental health struggles at some time, and to some degree they are natural responses to life’s challenges. I want to work together with you on relieving the impact of those things that cause you suffering, and to find self-compassion and contentment in the process.

My Approach to Helping

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Your personal experience and desires are essential in creating a plan that will work for you. Your personality, life circumstances, strengths and history will all drive approach I take when working with you. That being said, I do believe in evidence-based strategies, so I will consider what interventions have shown to be effective for your situation. However, the most important part of therapy is establishing a trusting and open therapeutic relationship, so I vow to attend to our relationship and remain accountable if you ever feel uncomfortable or uncertain about the work we do. I truly believe in my clients' ability to achieve the changes they want, and I am here to guide you in this process. I work with people with a variety of problems, hopes, goals and dreams and I'm here to support you in making the changes you want to see in your life.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

I have worked in the behavioral health field since 2008 in a variety of settings including acute hospital care, residental and outpatient mental health. However, I have found my home doing therapy and this is the work that motivates me and ignites my passion. I love seeing my clients find the strength and insight within themselves that empowers them to create change. I also have personal experience with weight loss and have maintained a loss of over 75lbs for several years. I believe this makes me the ideal person to help you if you have your own weight loss goals. However, weight loss certainly does not need to be a goal of yours to work with me and for some it's not a healthy goal to have, such as for those with a history of eating disorders. I am supportive and accepting, but will also be honest and direct with you. I will not assume I know your story based on how you look or present yourself, and I strive to understand who you are as a person.

    We will work on understanding how the interaction of your mind and your body can create unhelpful pathways that lead to and reinforce anxiety (often that has been present for years), and work on effective strategies to help you find relief and calm your inner turmoil.

    Depression is very common but can feel incredibly isolating. You are not alone, and I can help you find a way out and regain a sense of connection and understanding. Working together, you can begin to re-engage with your life and start your journey to recovery.
